Please compare two of this week's news items about Saudi Arabia.
1 - Women are still not permitted to drive in Saudi, "because allowing women to drive would begin a general collapse of morality."
2 - The UK is selling over 70 Eurofighter jets to the Saudis, in a deal worth £20billion.
Now call me cynical (do!) but is the US/UK's silence over human rights abuses in Saudi (of which the ban on women driving is surely the least offensive) anything to do with oil? Anything to do with arms sales?
